With the Assist: David Ostella to Race for TruSpeed AutoSport

David Ostella found one more race to help him warm up for the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelinchampionship in September at Calabogie Motorsports Park. After a last-minute call the 21-year-old driver will race in place of Phil Fogg Jr. of TruSpeed AutoSport at the Grand Prix of Baltimore this weekend in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Series.

The GT3 Cup Challenge Canada points leader is excited to return to the Streets of Baltimore. Ostella has raced at the 2.1-mile, 12-turn circuit twice before, giving him the edge in a series that has never raced on a street circuit.

“It’s great to have the opportunity last minute to drive a Porsche GT3 Cup car in the U.S. series again,” Ostella said. “I’m happy to help Phil and TruSpeed keep their sponsor on track this weekend. I know how important that is. I hope my experience here can help the team and me perform well and get a couple of podiums or even wins.”

Baltimore is Ostella’s third appearance in the U.S. series this season, but will be his first appearance as a driver for a U.S. GT3 Cup team. Previously he ran with the Americans at Watkins Glen and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with his Canadian team, SpeedMerchants Motorsports.

TruSpeed AutoSport welcomes the young driver’s on-track experience and is excited to have him behind the wheel of the No. 44 Entrust SSL car.

“We’re really happy that a great young driver like David was able to drive for TruSpeed AutoSport this weekend,” said General Manager Tyler Tadevic. “We’re looking forward to working with him and posting some great results for Entrust.”
