INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 2, 2011) – As he enters his sophomore season in INDYCAR’s Firestone Indy Lights Series, Canadian driver David Ostella is confident an off-season change will provide the platform needed to match his dedication and abilities in the seat of a race car.

Ostella, from Maple, Ontario, will join the well-established Team Moore for the 2012 Firestone Indy Lights Series season. With his year of experience in the series and Team Moore’s proven success, Ostella is anticipating racing up front and scoring podium finishes.

“This year should be a great one, and I can’t wait to get on the track for the first time with Team Moore,” said Ostella. “I know they have a great car and a great team. With them behind me, it should be a very competitive and positive season for me. Team Moore is full of good people who take great pride in their work. I’m really looking forward to getting to know them better.”

Team Moore, based in Pittsboro, Ind., was formed in 2007 by Mark Moore and Tom Wood to compete in the Firestone Indy Lights series. The team finished 10th in its inaugural season, recording nine top-10 finishes.  It won its first race in the series in 2008 with Pablo Donoso at Infineon Raceway and has a total of six wins.

Moore has more than 30 years of racing experience at all levels of the sport, while Wood is a successful businessman who is the chairman and managing director of Xtreme Coil, an oil drilling corporation with corporate headquarters in Calgary, Alberta. Wood is also a former driver who made 21 starts in the Firestone Indy Lights Series from 2002 to 2007, recording seven top-five finishes.

“Tom Wood and I are very happy to have David compete for us in the coming 2012 season,” said Moore. “David did a couple of tests for us this past fall and had excellent feedback. He has a very natural ability in the race car. With his great attitude and strong work ethic, we are all looking forward to the coming season.”

In his rookie Indy Lights season, Ostella finished ninth in the points championship. He just missed being on the podium with a fourth-place finish in the first race of the year in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The 2012 INDYCAR Firestone Indy Lights Series kicks off March 25th with the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla.
