Rookie David Ostella Takes Third and Continues Podium Streak at Trois-Rivières

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Quebec (August 11, 2013) – Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin rookie and series points leader David Ostellaentered this weekend with a goal of leaving with his points lead in tact. This is not an easy task for even the most seasoned of drivers at Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. The 10-turn, 1.5207-mile (2.433 km) temporary street circuit is known for its tight confines, concrete walls and severe lack of runoff areas.

Ostella began execution of his weekend plan by posting a second-place finish in Race 1 yesterday, while his nearest competitor in points, Chris Green had a bit of a rough race and ended up collecting points for seventh in the race.

The Maple, Ontario-native driver and his SpeedMerchants team knew they had their work cut out for them in Race 2 today, as the field of drivers near the front proved to be some fast and fierce competition yesterday. Ostella started in fourth overall and planned on utilizing his experience at the track, as this was his fifth time in varied competition at the circuit. And though he suffered a minor setback, his plan proved profitable.

“This race was great,” Ostella said. “Phenomenal race today. It was very clean. No incidents. We were struggling a bit with the car. I made a mistake coming around Turn 10, ended up brushing the wall on the inside so kind of messed up the setup a little bit. Other than that it was a clean race and I couldn’t ask for anything better; the team did a fantastic job. Got to thank SpeedMerchants, the Porsche GT3 Cup car was phenomenal and the Michelin tires were very consistent. And I’ve got to thank my sponsors Global Precast, JND Erectors, Connolly Marble, Pro-Green Demolition, Masters Insurance and NTC. Without them I wouldn’t be here, and especially the family, so it was a great event and I look forward to the next one and continuing this streak.”

Ostella took the third step on the podium today and continued his streak of podium finishes, which now stands at seven, including two wins. He looks to continue that streak en route to the Championship during the final race weekend at Calabogie Motorsports Park, September 6-8. At stake are not only pride and satisfaction, but also the keys to a brand new Porsche 991 for one year courtesy of Porsche Cars Canada.
